New York AREA participated in a meeting hosted by the Partnership for NYC in Con Edison’s building in Union Square. The meeting included top utility and generator executives as well as representatives of New York City and New York State. Many challenges in energy were brought up, as well as success stories and opportunities for investment.
New York AREA was also in attendance at the Business Council of New York State’s Industry-Environment Conference held in Saratoga Springs, NY. Throughout a snowy day industry and business groups discussed the environment with members of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and NYS Public Service Commission. One panel specifically covered Article X and it’s impact to NY. (New York AREA worked for years to get a new Article X signed into law, the original expired in 2003.) The conference ended with a large panel discussing hydrofracking in the Southern Tier and the challenges and benefits associated with it.
