On September 7, 2011, the Jefferson County Board of Legislators voted unanimously that Municipal “Home Rule” be returned to Jefferson County. The Board passed a resolution calling for restoration of our constitutional rights which were stripped when Governor Cuomo signed the Power NY Act August 4, 2011.
The Resolution first passed the Finance and Rules Committee unanimously September 2, as reported in the Watertown Daily Times ( http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20110902/NEWS03/709029867)
The Coalition On Article X (COAX) fully supports this strong message to Albany that we want our municipal “Home Rule” rights returned. Residents across New York are grateful for the leadership of Jefferson County.
